ABOUT PROJECT

The Cheeky Pea is a vibrant, family-run Middle Eastern and Mediterranean eatery based in Kingston, UK. Known for their delicious falafel, hummus, and wide array of catering services, they’ve been proudly serving their community since 2013.
As their business evolved to include restaurant service, deli takeaway, event catering, and food trailer hire, their original website struggled to communicate their full service offering effectively. The site also needed modernizing to match their brand identity and ensure a seamless mobile experience.


Project Scope
Davydov Consulting was tasked with a comprehensive redesign of The Cheeky Pea’s Wix website. The project objectives included:
Clarify business offerings: deli, catering, restaurant, events, trailer hire
Improve homepage communication (value proposition within 5 seconds)
Restructure top navigation for clarity
Modernize visual identity across all pages
Improve layout of menu and deli sections
Enhance mobile responsiveness
Retain core functionality (e.g., Click & Collect system)
Remove outdated festival references
Optionally re-integrate Instagram feed
No live chat — keep contact form only


Key Challenges
Website needed to communicate multiple business arms effectively on the homepage
Existing content was retained, but visual structure required a complete overhaul
Maintain Click & Collect integration while upgrading UX/UI
Ensure SEO preservation when removing festival references
Improve mobile responsiveness and eliminate inconsistencies in spacing, font, and layout

Homepage Redesign
Developed a clean, engaging hero section with a clear value proposition (“Family-run restaurant, takeaway & catering in Kingston”)
Added CTA buttons: Reserve, Contact, Order Now
Reorganized content blocks for intuitive flow
Introduced subtle family photos and service visuals
Ensured important info (services, hours, location) is visible above the fold on mobile

Rebuilt top menu with clear labels:

Replaced old layouts with new content provided by Tal
Clearly labeled “Deli – Takeaway Only” to reduce confusion

Introduced contact/reservation CTAs
Visual Consistency
Limited color palette to 3 consistent brand colors (e.g., dark grey, orange, accent color)
Standardized font choices, alignment, and spacing across the site
Improved photo usage while preserving the family-run identity
Event Archive Setup
Transformed old festival section into a new blog-style archive: “Our Moments”
Created backend tools for the client to easily upload event pages with photos and descriptions
Maintained SEO by archiving past event content rather than deleting it
Optional Features
Instagram feed re-integrated with lightweight embed
Performance impact monitored — retained only if no slowdown detected
Contact Form only — no chat plugin per client request


Results
Website bounce rate decreased (analytics provided separately)
Mobile responsiveness vastly improved, with seamless experience across devices
Better conversion funnel with visible CTAs for contact, ordering, and reservation
Client now has full control over content updates, especially event archives


The redesign brought clarity, warmth, and professionalism to the website while preserving its unique character. The site now properly supports The Cheeky Pea’s multifaceted business — from sit-down diners to large-scale catering — and gives them a scalable platform to grow.
