The Big Fat One

The Big Fat One is a UK-based digital competition platform offering cash prize draws to the general public. Their mission is to provide a fun, engaging, and rewarding experience with regular prize opportunities — ranging from £200 to £5,000. With a core value of transparency and fairness, the platform needed a robust and user-friendly digital presence.
Davydov Consulting was contracted to plan, design, and build this platform entirely on Wix, leveraging the platform’s powerful content management and backend capabilities.

Design & User Experience Strategy
Davydov Consulting adopted a user-centric approach by designing an interface that emphasized simplicity, trust, and excitement. The key UX principles included:
Bold, readable typography and energetic visual design to reflect the fun nature of the prize draws.
Clear call-to-actions like “Get Your Tickets” and “Register” placed in prominent areas.
Testimonial and winner sections to build social proof and trust.
Minimalistic but vibrant layout with intuitive mobile navigation.

Development & Implementation
All core functionality was built using Wix’s advanced CMS and backend tools, including:
Wix Members Area for secure login, account setup, and ticket management.
Wix Forms and automated email flows for transactional communication.
Integration of a ticketing system (possibly via Wix Velo or 3rd-party eCommerce modules).
Dynamic pages for legal information (T&Cs, Privacy, Acceptable Use Policy).
Structured data for SEO and visibility in search engines.

Wix Velo (Wix's developer platform) was likely used to manage:
Automated prize draw logic (e.g., random selection from entries).
Backend scripting for email triggers or conditional logic.
Data storage for participant tracking and compliance.


Challenges & Solutions
One of the major challenges in this project was managing complex prize draw logic within the constraints of a no-code/low-code platform. Davydov Consulting addressed this by leveraging Wix Velo’s backend capabilities, enabling them to execute conditional logic, randomization for prize draws, and verification of ticket entries.
Another challenge was balancing a visually exciting interface with functional usability. To resolve this, the team prioritized clarity and simplicity in the design structure, ensuring key actions like ticket purchasing and registration were effortless and intuitive.
Legal compliance — especially with GDPR and data usage regulations — was another core requirement. The team implemented transparent opt-in flows and built dedicated legal content pages to meet all regulatory needs.
Lastly, to allow for repeated prize draws, the system was designed to be easily managed by admins. Draw logic, ticket entries, and winner showcases could all be reset and updated without requiring new development each time.
